The Ontario Lawn Bowls
Association has provided all member clubs with access to the GO LAWN BOWL
campaign. These items can be found on the CD given to all clubs at
the spring meeting. It is important that you use the information provided
to help your club succeed. Below are some important things to address and
remember when working on recruitment.
- Membership drives
happen year round. People often make plans as to what they will do next
year, many months in advance. Fall and winter months are ideal times
to begin a new membership drive.
- Offer early
registration dates and discounts to existing members and potential new
bowlers.
- Target specific places
where new members are most likely to be found. examples may be Doctors
office, Post office, Apartment complexes, curling clubs etc.
- Hold a number of Open
Houses throughout the year. Don't settle for just the beginning of the
season. A member gained in July or August is as valuable as one gained
in May
- Sell the sport and the
benefits of participating. Introduce the potential bowler to more than just
the bowling. Show them the full slate of activities your club can
offer.
- Don't use the price as
your key selling tool.
- Ensure people who try
the sport, are given instruction, and receive support.
