Players asked and here it is!
The Championship Committee and the OLBA Board of Directors are holding an Open Fours Competition to declare two Men’s and two Women’s teams to play in the National Championships being held in Regina, Saskatchewan in late August. The Fours is the logical choice for trying an open competition due to the small number of entries at District level across the Province. This Championship is being held centrally at Leaside Lawn Bowling Club in Toronto to give teams from across the province a chance to enter.
The dates will be altered due to the number of entries received. If it cannot be completed on June 2nd and 3rd then it will start on Friday June 1st. If we happen to get an abundance of entries and can’t get it completed by June 3rd, it will continue to June 4th. The dates are totally dependant on the number of entries.
The format will be double knock-out playing to a true winner unless we get a huge amount of entries in which this case, we reserve the right to change the format to get the competition completed in a reasonable amount of time. Players are required to play 3 – 18 end games per day with a 2.75-hour time limit.
The Entry form and the entry fee ($500.00 per team) must be received by May 4, 2018.
The winning teams will receive any monies after expenses are paid to the host club, umpires and others involved with the running of this Championship. Gold medalists will receive 70% (divided 8 ways), silver medalists will receive 20% (divided 8 ways) and bronze medalists will get 10% (divided 8 ways).
Please get your entries in early so planning can begin and make it a success for both the players and OLBA.
